"I live in South Africa in a province called KwaZulu Natal, about 15 miles from the seaside city of Durban. Our reservoirs have been stocked over the years with predominantly Large Mouth Bass (Florida strain being the most common). My fishing partner and I fish in what is known as the SABASS Cast 4 Cash Tournament trail. We had fished 2 tournaments together finishing 2nd and 4th, when I decided that we needed something to give us an edge over fellow competitors. That’s when I started scrounging on the net and found your Matrix, when I compared what I spend on tackle to the price of the Matrix I thought it sounded like a good idea. The next competition arrived and it was time to test the skills again, I must also clarify that the competitions are only a 1 day competition and we cannot fish the waters for 7 days prior to competition day, so we have no practice days to work out patterns or even find the ultimate lure for the day. We hit the water at 7am with high hopes (knowing this particular small reservoir was renowned for big Bass in the shallows especially on top water). By 1:30pm our live well was still empty and by the way all the other boats were racing around, we surmised they were having the same success or lack of it. Then I remembered the Bass Fishing Matrix, I pulled it out, added the variables and it told me to fish a dark in line spinner with a medium to slow retrieve. Well half an hour later we had an 8lb kicker in the live well and went on to win both the tournament and biggest fish. Two months later we returned to the same waters and duplicated our win and biggest fish although this one was only 4lbs, once again thanks to the Bass Fishing Matrix. For both of these comps the overall results were dismal to say the least, the first comp had only 10 fish weighed in out of a possible 200 and the second had 6 fish out of a possible 150. So I would say that the Matrix gave us a distinct advantage. How the Matrix really helps us is that we have such a small amount of time to figure out a pattern and then catch 5 good fish. The Matrix takes a lot of the guess work out of the equation and allows us more time to fine tune our strategy and catch those big lunkers. We have now run up the leader board and are currently ranked 2nd with one tournament left this Sunday. We have already qualified for the final championship being fished on the 4th & 5th of March and here the Matrix will come into play again as we have never fished this body of water.
